BRIDE GUIDE: “Friendly” vendors

Planning a wedding can be a full-time job.  It’s always an exciting but exhausting time.  You’re a bride! You want to invite everyone you love! You want everyone to cry and then dance til they drop! It takes months especially if you live around these parts! You live and breathe lists.  You make budgets. You pray that you pick the right people for such a big day.  You hope the reviews you read were true.  You post things on Facebook asking friends for suggestions. AND then you get the friend-ly vendors……

BRIDE GUIDE: Celia Milton style

Celia Milton is brilliant.  Truly brilliant, balls to the walls clever, and full of awesome creativity.  I have never met anyone like her. She is my wedding officiant mentor in every sense of the word.  She is the reason I am a wedding officiant; she advised me on how to write a beautiful ceremony for people and taught me the ins and outs of this awesome side gig.  I’m so thrilled that I work with her but even more honored that she officiated over our own wedding. I had to share her awesome blog she wrote.  In general I have to share it because again, brilliant.

Boys and their toys

Electronicals. If you married a techie as I did, you probably have a multitude of different electronicals around the house. We have Wii, PS1, PS2, PS3, PS Move, PSMobile, DVD players, TVs, Apple TV, computers, tablets, iPhones, Androids, etc. etc. I’m not saying all of this so that someone will rob me.  I’m just astounded by just how many electronicals you can collect.  As technology is racing towards a finish line that will never come, how many electronicals will you welcome into your life? Are they taking over?

NJTransit is my version of hell.

I’ve been taking NJ Transit for a long time now.  Since high school.  A LONG TIME. My main routes have been consistent and consistently SUCKY. From where I live in NJ, it is the easiest way to commute into NYC.  There are trains but they are more expensive and far away.  Driving in is my favorite but between the cost of parking, tolls and the immense traffic, it is also not the most convenient way of traveling. The quick 15 miles into the city should be easier than it has been of late. It can literally take 15 minutes to 90+ minutes to get into Manhattan.

Concierge Corner: New Yorkumacation

Oh NYC you have taught me so much. Over the years, I have subletted in “the City” as it is called several times but my heart has always been in North Jersey. I’ve heard people refer to Bergen County as “the Annex” since it is basically like a borough. I love my borough but as a person who prefers the best of both worlds, the suburban life outside this crazy city, I can safely say that I also abide by the rules and lifestyle of this city as a now and then resident. A tourist said to me the other day, “New Jersey, New York, same thing!” (This tourist was almost correct but I won’t start ragging on Central and South Jersey right now!)

Fuzzy wuzzy was a…. wife.

I got married in September which equals 6 months of good, bad, sleepy, cranky, sexy, cuddly love. We’ve officially moved in together and combined our lives. I’ve even started the name adjustment process; since I’m keeping it all in some crazy capacity, I feel like I have an identity crisis. What name does the doctor have, what address do you have for me, what name did I use??? But I digress. Another blog, another time.

Health Crusade 2014

I just started my health crusade 2014.  I’m determined to get healthier this year and feel better!  I’m tired all the time, sleep deprived, can’t lose weight and am just a mess;  for an early 30s gal, that is NO BUENO.  So I’m plunging in by seeing every single doctor I can, a perk to marrying a man with fabulous health insurance. I’ve been an animal about it and I never thought I would enjoy going to doctors. Continue reading

Bride Guide: Shhhh it’s a big white secret!

When I found THE DRESS to wear on my wedding day, I deleted my entire wedding gown board from Pinterest.  I don’t think I have shared my affinity for Pinterest yet but don’t you worry, it’s coming!  For awhile there was no facebook, there was no Candy Crush, there was no phone- there was only Pinterest.  I was obsessed when I first joined and let abandoned my pinning to plan my wedding.  I’m back in full effect now though!
